Ultra top secret mission

 Posted on March 24th, 2010

I probably looked like someone preparing for an assassination. But I had a purpose, dear reader. Yes, a master plan. A secret master plan.

That’s right, I’m afraid I’m not at liberty to discuss why I looked like I would be involved in a Bourne-like plot, but I could see how my behaviour could be construed as such.

I stood at the each location, gazing across the street to check the sightlines. Then I’d go to that location and gaze back from there. Suspicious. And, being the proud papa of a short new cut, along with my daunting shades, I probably looked the part of someone who might use those sightlines for nefarious purposes.

And I was on a mission.

Determined to hit as many of my ten destinations as I could. I managed six. Well, seven if you count the bendy CN Tower. I’m not sure if I’m counting it just yet; we’ll see which way I’m leaning later on. But I trekked the hell out of those streets. Up to the steps of Casa Loma

casa loma, steps, skyline, toronto, city, life

…down to the most prominent building on Queen Street

299 queen street west, much music, building, toronto, city, life

…onward to the CBC where I had a shouting match with Glenn Gould

glenn gould, bronze, statue, cbc, studios, front street, building, toronto, city, life

…then to Ireland Park, as far south as I could go without dropping into the waters of the lake. Still kinda chilly in the shade, you know…

ireland park, famine, irish, immigrants, toronto, city, life

…followed by a dash to beat the setting sun to Union Station…

union station, go transit, toronto, transit commission, ttc, front street, toronto, city, life

…and, well, Union Station again…

…then home. Sun was too low and I was too hungry.

Six hours of pavement and I can’t even tell you why. And it’s not as if I haven’t been to these places before.

But I can tell you this: if you happen to be passing by any of these locations on some nice sunny day, keep your eyes open. These pictures were taken from these perspectives for a specific reason. And if everything goes according to plan (I really hope it goes according to plan!), it should all lead to some good old-fashioned blogging goodness.

Wow. That really is all I can mention.

Well, see you next time!

The photos look so gorgeous …as if I'm there.

What might be the nefarious purpose? Hehehehe! I enjoyed looking at the pics and all throughout your blog , though this is my 1st time to comment.

Ah, well, if I told you the nefarious purpose Bingkee, that would blow my cover. Sorry, not until later. But please don't let that stop you from commenting. :)

Sure is, Kato :) Now I just need relatively calm and warm days and I'm set. Then I will reveal Jesus was actually a woman. (You heard it here first ;) )

Is that a person-on-a-bench sculpture I see? Do people sit beside it? I was sent a card from Odessa that had a similar one, the first I've ever seen quite like that. I now confidently expect to see another, since things go in threes.

Yes, Sheila, that's a bronze bench sculpture of Glenn Gould. It's a great photo location and lots of people cozy up to Glenn for a snap. And as you mention, Glenn's never alone, even on TCL: http://www.torontocitylife.com/2009/10/07/how-goo

What's on your mind?
