Just shoot me already

They’re at it again!

filming notice, apartment building, toronto, city, life

rookie blue, filming notification, apartment bulding, toronto, city, life

breakout kings, filming notification, apartment building, toronto, city, life

Hollywood North? Bah, this is Toronto, bitches!

In case you can’t make out the notices, the first one is a docu-drama by the NFB (*snore*), directed by Sarah Polley named “The Darkroom”, the second is for Global / ABC’s “Rookie Blue“, and the last one is for some new show from Fox21 / A&E named “Breakout Kings” which seems similar to Prison Break and is not, as I’d hoped, about outrageous acne.

Here’s a smattering of some of the bigger movies shot here:

  • American Psycho (2000)
  • The Boondock Saints (1998)
  • Brokeback Mountain (2005)
  • Cocktail (1998)
  • Dawn of the Dead (2004)
  • Fantastic Four (2005)
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008)
  • Jersey Girl (2004)
  • Johnny Mnemonic (1995)
  • Kick-Ass (2010)
  • The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
  • The Love Guru (2008)
  • Max Payne (2001)
  • Mean Girls (2004)
  • Moonstruck (1987)
  • Owning Mahowny (2003)
  • Police Academy series
  • Pushing Tin (1999)
  • Red (2010)
  • Repo Men (2010)
  • Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
  • Riding in Cars with Boys (2001)
  • The Santa Clause (1994)
  • Saw series
  • Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010)
  • The Sentinel (2006)
  • Serendipity (2001)
  • Shoot Em Up (2007)
  • The Recruit (2003)
  • Three Men and a Baby (1987)
  • Tommy Boy (1995)
  • True Lies (1994)
  • X-Men (2000)
  • Wrong Turn (2003)

As evidenced above, my street alone adds a few titles to the list every year.

While it’s true that as of 2005 Vancouver produced more feature movies, Toronto has the muscle to show those soggy hippies what’s what. Besides, we have the TIFF, we don’t live on a petulant fault line, and we sound a lot less idiotic when we speak French. It’s simply a matter of time.

Wow, this is really surprising how many movies had been shot there. It seems that Toronto is more important for movie makers than Hollywood. Maybe Toronto locations are cheaper and maybe even better than in the States. Guess you have a chance as you are already living there and if you'll show up on the street at the right time while they are filming to become a Star. Hehehehehe.
